Yoga Weyr is a beautiful yoga studio, set on scenic acreage, just South of Nanaimo B.C. It is the fruition of a dream and was born from extensive planning and hard work.
We hope that everyone will enjoy this sanctuary and leave with a feeling of peace. We are excited to share our project with many for years to come.
Our Instructors come from a variety of teaching styles and experiences. Combined, they help create this unique place. We look forward to meeting and welcoming new students.

Alex Scarr ~ Owner of Yoga Weyr
Alex has been involved in the fitness industry for several decades. As a swimming instructor, a fitness leader, and these last 16 years a devotee of Yoga. She is in her 35th year of a daily yoga practice and has been teaching yoga for 20 years. She has studied Iyengar, Anusara and Ashtanga which is her daily practice.
It is her passion and love of the discipline of Yoga that has helped create this world class studio.
With well over a decade on the mat and close to 7 years instructing Devon has mastered hundreds over advanced yoga poses, arm balances and inversions.
Devon believes that only where strength balance and flexibility meet does yoga happen. His classes aim to improve these aspects in practitioners all well leaving them feeling calm, balanced and centred and ready to take on even the toughest day.
Devon also incorporates a little sound healing into every class so get ready for an experience like no other.
Angelina embraced yoga for the immediate beneficial effect she noticed it had on her physical and mental health. Her first Yoga teacher training program was completed in South India in 1999. Since then, she's taught countless Yoga and Pilates classes in Nanaimo and Victoria. Angelina continues to study by seeking out experienced teachers at home and around the world and holds a Masters degree in Education.
She loves to explore foreign languages, art, music, gardening, and the great outdoors. Angelina is experienced in teaching both active styles of Hatha Yoga (Sivananda, Vinyasa Flow) and relaxing styles (Yin, Restorative). She is forever grateful to her teachers and students along the path who continue to demonstrate that there is always more to learn in this wondrous life on beautiful planet Earth.
Sandy’s journey into yoga began from a serendipitous meeting with a studio owner in Alberta. Originally, trained in martial arts, Sandy’s very first class revealed a similarity of the two as practices in balance, grounding, flexibility and breath.
After being deeply moved in her first class, the journey began. Practicing steady since 2013 and getting her teacher training in 2018.
Sandy’s approach to yoga is holistic. She always expresses that the gifts and practice of yoga can incorporate into all areas of life.
It really is a practice of calming the mind, supporting the body and balancing the spirit.

Directions to Yoga Weyr:
From the Trans-Canada HWY (1) go east on Morden Road which is just south of the Duke Point Ferry turn off. (There is a Gas-N-Go on the west side at the lights) Take the first right turn on Main Road. Follow this road and it will turn into a dirt road. Pass the Nanaimo River Park and just beyond you will come to the Yoga Weyr gate on the left.
